Inspired by the powerful visual motifs and political commentary that Kendrick Lamar made throughout his half time performance at the 2025 Super Bowl LIX, I designed this americana-esque poster that drew from elements of his performance. The color palette and repetive star imagery reflects back on the patriotic visuals that Lamar used throughout his show. The street lamp casts a blue light on Kendrick that helps form a large star shape within the background that’s centered on Lamar to represent the forced american visualization/expectation on how black people should act and present themselves in the spotlight, just as Samuel L. Jackson stated, “this is the great American game!” while dressed like Uncle Sam.
